Hello! I’m Retha Cole, thank you for stopping by!
A little background…I was born and raised in the Midwest on a small family Kansas dairy farm. My husband and I raised two amazing boys beside two creeks that formed a lake…LakeCreek! (my business name!) We now are enjoying little grands!

I painted my first oil painting when I was 14 years old. By the late ’80’s, I had switched to acrylics. I painted on clothes, furniture, flea market treasures, and large wall murals. I’d never claimed to be an artist…painting was just something I enjoyed.

Life got busy. Our family was traveling through the Midwest and southwest playing bluegrass music. (In case you’re wondering…I played the banjo!)

In May of 2005, I had a heart attack followed by a nervous breakdown. The health collapse was difficult for me to pull out of! Through that time, I lost all my confidence in everything I used to do, love, & enjoy! I no longer knew how to decorate my house, how to function socially, how to cook for my family…and for sure how to PAINT! I had to relearn and rebuild my skill and confidence in everything. It didn’t happen overnight…it’s actually taken years on some things…
I had this crazy fear that I couldn’t paint anymore…so I didn’t try.

January 2016
I have no idea what possessed me…but I decided to grab a brush and some old acrylics! I painted! That painting was not an award winner…but it ignited a fire from those deep-seated embers of desire to paint again!

February 2018
I randomly bought some cheap watercolor paints and brushes, put away the old acrylics and haven’t looked back.
I’m reminded of how the enemy comes only to “steal, kill, and destroy”…truly he tried to do all that to me! He will take anything…your love, your life, your dreams, your promises, or your passions!
The rest of the scripture says, “but I am come, that you might have LIFE, and that more ABUNDANTLY.” John 10:10
If you have any area in your life that has been stolen from you or destroyed, God can restore it once again! Pick up your head…or your paint brush, and give God the glory!
